Derica Perez, PMHNP-BC
Derica Perez, PMHNP-BC, is a dedicated psychiatric nurse practitioner with a strong background in mental health care. She completed her undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University and earned her Masters from the University of Texas in Arlington. Derica’s commitment to providing comprehensive psychiatric care is evident in her role at Prime Psychiatry, where she conducts initial evaluation assessments for both children and adults. Her approach involves establishing psychiatric diagnoses, referring individuals for counseling, and collaborating with outside providers when additional services are needed. Through daily med management visits, Derica utilizes the most up-to-date evidence-based practices, working closely with therapists associated with the facility and external therapists to formulate optimal treatment plans for each patient.
Derica’s passion lies in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly those dealing with depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and ADHD. The most rewarding aspect of her medical practice is witnessing breakthrough moments in her patients’ journeys. When individuals, who initially felt stuck, experience significant improvements and express gratitude, it brings Derica immense joy. In her free time, Derica prioritizes spending quality moments with her loved ones, particularly cheering for her little one at basketball and volleyball games. As an enthusiastic and supportive parent, she finds fulfillment in being the loudest cheerleader in the front row. Derica also maintains a healthy lifestyle by engaging in workouts, runs, and weightlifting, using these activities to process her day and celebrate weekly wins. Additionally, she enjoys movies, crafting, and organizing, finding happiness in these varied pursuits.
