Prime Psychiatry provides expertise in managing co-occurring disorders (previously referred to as dual diagnosis). Treatment of substance/addictive disorders in addition to concurrent mental disorders ensures a much higher remission rate with a concurrent decrease in recidivism. We have several providers including a psychiatrist Board Certified in Addictions Medicine. We provide outpatient treatment for alcohol, opioids, cocaine, amphetamines, cannabis, bath salts, K2, air duster, hallucinogens, benzodiazepines and other illicit substances. In addition to treatment using Suboxone or Subutex, we also provide maintenance therapy with Buprenorphine, Naltrexone tablets and Vivitrol injections. Buprenorphine (Subutex) and buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) can be used to detoxify or to provide maintenance therapy for opiate dependence. To aid in the recovery process from these illicit substances, we provide counseling services as this in combination with detox has been shown to decrease recidivism.
In 2014, an estimated 22.5 million Americans aged 12 and older self-reported needing treatment for alcohol or illicit drug use, and 11.8 million adults self-reported needing mental health treatment or counseling in the past year. This is as reported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. It is postulated that by 2020, mental and substance use disorders will surpass all physical diseases as a major cause of disability worldwide. It remains important for Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders to be adequately treated with a combination of Medication Assisted Treatment and counseling.
