There are any number of reasons why you may be putting your mental health further down your list of priorities — the pandemic, the holidays, lack of time. The good news is that there’s no reason for your all-important mental health to take a back seat, thanks to our telepsychiatry services
The experienced and compassionate team of mental health providers here at Prime Psychiatry understands the hurdles that can come with in-office visits, which is why we’ve made ourselves available remotely through telepsychiatry.
Here’s a look at some of the many benefits of telepsychiatry, and how we can help keep your mental health on track no matter your circumstances.
Remote care
Americans are no strangers to conducting their business remotely thanks to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, technology has kept pace with this demand, and you can do everything from work to working out using the smart device in your hand or on your desk.
Recognizing that video technology is now allowing us to accomplish a great deal from the comfort and safety of our own homes, we offer virtual mental health care.
Through telepsychiatry, we offer:
- Medication management
- Psychiatric evaluations
- Ongoing counseling
Using high-definition video technology, you can be seen and heard by our mental health professionals, who are also visible to you.
As well, we value your privacy, and we assure you that this technology is HIPAA-compliant.
Advantages of telepsychiatry
As recent events have shown us, the world around us can change rapidly, and we want to do our part to ensure that your mental health care remains uninterrupted.
Whether you’re apprehensive about going out in public more than is necessary or you’re simply short on time, we can provide your mental health care at your convenience.
Telepsychiatry can also play an invaluable role for those who travel often or for those who are unable to leave their homes for physical or mental reasons.
Just as with in-office sessions, your time with one of our psychiatrists, therapists, or counselors is yours alone, and you have their full attention.
What telepsychiatry can and cannot treat
We can use telepsychiatry for a wide range of mental health conditions, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety and/or panic disorders
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Bipolar disorder
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
- Substance use disorders
- Sleep disorders
If, however, you’re undergoing certain therapies, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, you still need to come to our office for these treatments. As well, if you’re taking controlled medications, we do need to see you in person.
Outside of these circumstances, telepsychiatry is a great way for us to continue to make progress with your mental health, as there’s much we can accomplish during a virtual visit. As we mentioned, we can’t prescribe controlled medications remotely, but we can prescribe more common medications, such as antidepressants, through telepsychiatry.
